A Framework for Mining Instant Messaging Services

چکیده
Developing a framework for analysis of large scale masscommunication media such as instant messaging (popularly known as IM) has gone largely unexplored up until this point. This paper explores various data mining issues and how they relate to Instant Messaging and current CounterTerrorism efforts. Specific topics include user pattern analysis, anomaly detection, limited message size based textual topic detection, and largely generic social network analysis in this context. Several interesting questions are posed and the current framework being developed explores some of the

Data Mining Instant Messaging Communications to Perform Author Identification for Cybercrime Investigations
Instant messaging is a form of computer-mediated communication (CMC) with unique characteristics that reflect a realistic presentation of an author’s online stylistic characteristics. Instant messaging communications use virtual identities, which hinder social accountability and facilitate IM-related cybercrimes. Criminals often use virtual identities to hide their true identity and may also su...
متن کاملSoftBridge: A Multimodal Instant Messaging Bridging System
Instant Messaging is traditionally a text only affair. However, there are instances when it would be useful to bridge to other types of media, like speech. The SoftBridge is an application framework that enables this kind of communications bridging using instant messages. Its use of protocols like the Jabber Instant Messaging Protocol and the Simple Object Access Protocol makes it simple, open ...
متن کاملPresence, Location, and Instant Messaging in a Context-Aware Application Framework
A mobile user's presence and location information often forms important input for those applications and services that must anticipate on the user's context. Additionally, the ability to let a mobile device determine its location in an indoor environment at a fine-grained level supports the creation of a new range of personalized mobile Internet applications. The framework described here joins ...
متن کاملInternet - Draft Common Profile : Instant Messaging
Instant messaging is defined in RFC2778 [12]. Today, numerous instant messaging protocols are in use, and little interoperability between services based on these protocols has been achieved. This specification defines common semantics and data formats for instant messaging to facilitate the creation of gateways between instant messaging services. Table of

There are many areas were text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis could enhance the end-user experience or even change the behavior of using existing network services starting from simple notification applications to complex presence enabled instant messaging convergent services. For this to happen we may need to bring TTS service in the multi-access area of Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks ...
